Spoilers on Frostgrave: Forgotten Pacts
« on: 21 February 2016, 11:33:40 AM »
Has anyone noticed this information before? Colour me excited! And it seems to me as great opportunity to introduce some plastic barbarians as well ;)

"In this supplement for Frostgrave, players lead their warbands into the northern reaches of the city, exploring the ruined temples of the Frozen City to search for the lost secrets of evocation--the art of summoning demons. While the lure of such knowledge is great, few wizards have ventured into this region as it is overrun by barbaric northern tribesmen, who have descended from the hills in their own search for treasure. Marking themselves with demonic sigils, many of these barbarians have aligned with ancient powers discovered among the temples. Along with a host of new scenarios focusing on the exploration of the temples, the book also contains new treasures, spells, soldiers, and creatures that can be found in and around the ruins."

So we have Empire (several schools of Wizards), Skaven (sorry Gnolls), and now Chaos Warriors? Looking forward to official Dwarves and Elves.

Currently feels like each supplement beefs out a few more schools of magic! Sounds good to me!!

Honestly, I cannot see anything from the Warhammer universe in Frostgrave. Frostgrave is obviously rooted in classic fantasy (which was of course one of the sources for early WH). If we get new barbarians, I would expect them to follow the look of Frostgrave metals rathar than the GW's style of deformed anatomy & spikes everywhere.

I'd be so bang up for a box set of plastic barbarians...especially if they were in the same flavour as the Frostgrave metal barbarian, that would be absolutely fantastic!!!

Agreed on barbarians! 😃

Interested in the ancient powers and how that'll translate into magic - a new school or an adaptation of an existing school?

As I am already working on a Celtic/ barbarian warband I was really pleased about this. But better still, as this is out Novemeber, I have also backed a Kickstarter for a female northern steppe barbarian army that delivers soon after! You really need to check out the plastic kits on this one..

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1273312680/war-is-coming-shieldmaidens-army-reboot/description

A single box of the Shieldmaidens is getting more and more weapon options added with each stretch goal. It looks like it could act as a perfect plastic set in the same vein as cultists and gnolls. I'm going in big on this one as I want to build a Kings of War army, but will easily have enough left over for a barbarian warband. I'm sure there will be an official Frostgrave plastic box release too, but as I'm already getting more of these than I need I may as well use them for my favourite skirmish game too! And I like to be different 😁

And check out the ice bears! I'm in love with these guys!

Hopefully this will see the rules for demons expanded greatly.

I was a little disappointed that you're wizard isn't summoning some serious kick-ass style monster with the original rules, and that demons didn't appear to have much depth.  :)

There'd definitely be balance issues if summoning a demon was as powerful as you suggest :)

More detailed rules for different kinds of demons might be interesting, as opposed to the current imps/minor/major versions we have now. The Major Demon text suggests though that new rules are on the way "The stats given below are just a guideline, as major demons will often have their
own magic powers or abilities, or access to a number of spells."

Also: Large (optional) is a hilarious power for a demon. Who would want that optional trait that is completely negative?

+1 for more unique and interesting demons. To be fair, they could easily add maybe just one to each expansion - give that little extra surprise to look forward to each time! Or give us some abilities that will give us some conversion challenges i.e. 4 or six arms, adding extra attacks! A plethora of named demons would add a nice little bit of mythos to the game.

Or a bit of both barbarians and demon parts, like the cultist box having conversion parts for making zombies and skeletons

Who does the box of plastic barbarians?  Shieldwolf minis? Krumvaal or some such.  Easy way to get started I suppose.
