Something new in the pipeline from Puppetswar:

It looks great. It is similar to the Studio McVey suits but different enough to be cool :)

Looks interesting 8)
I'm quite liking these very small independent companies that are filling niches that GW isn't.
cheers

Nice otherwise (at least until I see the price tag but PW tends to be a little cheaper than the competition...) but am not overtly convinced by the dangly bit in front. Maybe it's just the camera angle but it looks definitely overdone as extra crotch protection goes.

Me too, though i generally like the design. Nice to see some non-GW designs.

I like all that I can see except for the ridiculous codpiece...
Would like to see more angles though.

Well the codpiece might actually make sense If this dude is supposed to be up front in an assault, then it can sheild lighter troops following.
-
Yep, while it is a little silly looking...I can justify it in my head as the lead element of a boarding team on a hostile spacecraft or something to that effect.
Essentially a robotic version of a police team's SWAT entry suits.

Yep, it's a stretch.
-
It reminds me of Gimli when he is given a suit of human-sized mail coat in the LotR film. I think the codpiece looks cool and adds a lot of 'heaviness' to the look.
To each their own though :)
I expect that after all the feedback on the forums that codpiece might shrink though lol

I would recommend them to make it seperate, so we could easily shorten it ourselfs (doesn't look like that would be a difficult conversion), but I'm not on their Forums.

Crotch protection can never be overdone!

Do Robots (or Power Armor users) worry about armoring their... "cod..." - I mean if something penetrates the Power Armor it is going to bad things to all sort of parts (some - physically - more vital than that 1% of the human body.)

Have you noticed that the barrel on the gun looks like it is pointing down? It is a top illusion (there are two guns) and looks quite amusing :D

Neither am I, but this would be an ideal solution if someone here can suggest it there. Especially as it would allow those of us who don't like the dangly look to use the plate elsewhere.

I'm sold on it if the codpiece is seperate. Looks like it possibly could be. Really hope it is, these are some of the better heavy/reinforced power armor designs out there. Look like the best parts of both the Starship Troopers Grizzly suits Mongoose made and the heavy armor for Sedition Wars.
-
I like it but agree about the codpiece, Maybe it's a well hung robot.

Presumably the crotch armour is there to protect the legs joints, not the dangly bitz of the wearer (if any) as such -- tho in this particular model the (hydraulic? electric?) tubing/wiring is a bit too exposed for that to make much difference if one gets really anal about "realism". Perhaps it indeed is assumed to do double duty as a riot shield.
-
Combinded with the oversized cod-piece I asume if you add some antenna (maybe Tau drone antennas) you could give the armour a very cockroach-like look. That might actually look pretty awesome.
-
That's a very good point!
-
I have told Puppet's War about the cod-piece issue on Face Book... so they are aware. I have also suggested that the codpiece should be a separate piece.
Hopefully, they'll take it on board :)

Hm... I begin to wonder where to mount addditional weapons onto that suit. I would like to combine them with geared up Anvil Industries rifles when the scale permits.

I like the codpiece.I think its what makes the model different from other offerings.

That raise some interesting thoughts on designing Power Armor (PA) and weapons being integral (Like McEwan's Reviresco PA having a "pinkie Laser" to go with the carried Plasma gun) and attachment weapons (SST book flamer (not the hand flamer) and Mortar/Grenade Launcher etc.) but that should be another thread.

Weaponry? One on the right hand. The left hand looks like it is in a "closed" format (do weapons become available when the "fingers" open up?) No other obvious ranged weapons that I can see. No need for GW-ish oversized melee weapons if you have PA IMO. A "10x" strength hit from a chunk of metal/ceramic/etc., armor should put all non-PA/Vehicle troops down for the count if not permanently.

I know where my weaponry is being focused...
The "armor" part of this PA needs some serious re-design for this figure IMO.

I dont recall all the negativity on the codpiece when the McVey one was released. :-)
And yes, first thing that i thought of when i saw the PW one was McVey's.
Grimm

I suppose that could be, like, 'cuz their codpieces aren't quite as big as this one's?
And the newer Gnosis suited types obviously don't need to "compensate" much at all.

Even BOW doesn't get the flap:
http://www.beastsofwar.com/sci-fi-wargaming/pummel-puppets-war-power-armour/
For the sake of Puppets War getting my hard-earned cash, the model should still come with a closed "hatch" option as shown previously. Not keen on the idea that the wearer's head pokes out of the suit when he goes into battle.

That new helmet makes the suit look too much like "Germans in Space" to me. i would prefer both options and a removable interior helmet (giving us the option to recast the lid in transparent resin and include unarmoured pilot heads.

It's more psychological than anything else, but still important!

Never looked at that one or I would have commented.

They do like those armour loincloths.

Unfortunately they join Games Workshops funny idea of adding mining tools to Combat Armor... I hope we will get other arm options than this nonsense.

The Metal Loincloths Team:
http://puppetswar.com/product.php?id_product=266
I personally like the way they've put magnet-sized holes in the bitz from the start. Mileages vary tho I'm sure.
-
I wish they would have kept the old helmets, the new Space MarineTM style helmet free models looks stupid.
-
These suits are the third level of protection... the fourth level suits have the enclosed helmet and beefier armour on the shoulders so don't dispair :).
I am glad that these are finally available and the beauty of them is that you can choose different heads from their store if you aren't happy with the ones you get (obviously you have to pay extra... but the choice is there).
-
Still no indication on whether the ridiculous loincloth armor can be left off or not...

a lot of the figures they produce are single castings with much of the detail in situ - so I suspect the 'loincloth' armour is not optional.
-

That's exactly why I have not purchased any of the McVey ones.
This design is pretty nice but the codpiece must be normalized.
I like the hands that fold and the weapon built in. I *really* like that the guns are not over-the-top-trying-to-compensate-for-something big.
I like this sequential idea, too: http://www.beastsofwar.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Destroyer.jpg The progression from light to super-heavy is nice. Well done!
The destroyer, as a SWAT break-down-the-barriers suit, makes sense with those spinning saws. Good idea. Perhaps an option for a drill to make a hole and then insert explosives or a blow-torch for weakening metal could prove useful.
Another role for these suits could be the rescue of people buried in debris, including fellow squad mates.
-
I'd held off ordering these as they are so like the Studio McVey 'suits' and i've still got a couple of those but I've just received the trooper unit and they're really nice (very reminiscent of FW's Elysians - bit taller and better proportioned - but with all the equipment cast on) so I might change my mind.

Pity that. :?
Thanks for letting us know though; and I do look forward to seeing your paint-up, silly equipment and all.
