My latest Poundland purchase was a pack of insects. They're fairly rubbery and I don't think they'll take paint, but will be useful for giant bugs and scorpions in dungeon (and possibly pulp) settings
I found a plastic toy speedboat, which if you cut off the cockpit and engine bit and flip it upside-down makes a perfect hull for a 28mm late movie or mid-TNG era Star Trek Shuttle. A couple highlighter pens for nacelles and it should be gold.
The Works currently has some "joke ants at 25p a packet in their clearance section.
Also (Revell?) snap-together Star Wars kits - Millenium Falcon, Jedi fighter, X wing, Republic gunship, all scaled to fit the box but prepainted and only £4.99 so might be of use to some.

the STAR WARS Command figures at 69p a pack . You get nine figures in a pack but they are about three inches tall therefore not of use to most gamers. Someone might have a use for them

Poundland has had in some die cast Bond cars for a few weeks now. They're from those fortnightly magazines .I just ordered a cheap Traction Avant from (I think) this series. Hopefully it will fit well with my existing fleet!

The 1/43rd include Crusader & Somua tanks, Hanomag & M16 half tracks, and they've been reduced to £5 now to clear them.

The Works has "Grafix Clip kits" at £2 each.Home Bargains have the helicopters at £1. The scale for the Apache is about 1/144
Not sure of scale, but they have Black Hawks, attack helicopters (Apache?) some aircraft and some cars.
All the same sized box, so probably mixed scales.
Include acrylic paint and a brush which is quite good for applying base texture (saves destroying a decent brush).
The Works has a wooden "bottle top balance" type game.
A small (solid) wooden bottle and 100 35mm wooden discs for £5.
Interestingly the discs appear to be wood not mdf.
There are set of three plastic police cars and three police flat bed trucks in poundland at the moment. They're identical and the usual quality, but look to be 28mm scale
I found a topiary ball in a local discount store for £5 which has loads of plastic leaves you can detach and use for foliage.
Best of all, most places that I've been in there are loose bits that have dropped off and are just scattered across the floor/shelf. So if you tidy up all the loose bits when you pick a ball you could get extra foliage.
Lol. That's exactly what I did. I swept up the loose ones and stuffed them inside the one I bought.

If anyone near the MetroCentre Gateshead is after the French WWII AMC Schneider P16(M29) 1940 half track that was available via "The Works" chain the branch in the MetroCentre has about ten of so left reduced to clear £5
They have some of those Schneiders in The Works near Stonehouse, Glos. and a few of those Russian AFVs from the front of a magazine.Popped in there today on the off chance and they're all gone :( shame as the kids are really getting into both tanks and wargaming :)
Anyone used "Crafters Choice" brand of Acrylic paint? The Works have 59ml bottles in for £1 each the range of colour is more your crafty type no "blood for the blood god red" "snot green" nor "pus yellow"I use their Country Maple for washing the bases of groups of figures and recommend it. Coverage with other shades has been mixed though. Useful for buildings though I've found.
Am I the only one who regularly carries a mini with him when I visit the dollar store and thrift stores?
I always mean to have a figure with me, but often seem to have on the wrong jacket etc. I too then decided to 'scale' a figure against my thumb, I always remember to bring my thumb.

My local Aldi (here in the UK) is selling rolls of artificial turf, 1mx2m, for £6.99 each. Unusually, the 'turf' is actually a fairly fine flock in a mid-green not dissimilar to some industrial carpets, so very suitable as a gaming mat. At that price, they're either usable as-is or hackable into tiles. I'm thinking of the latter, with some paint and/or mastic detailing for roads/rivers, etc.

The Works (UK) have a pack of 16 'wooden mini plaques' for 1 pound: lasercut plywood, 25 x 70 x 2mm, with rounded ends. Ideal cavalry bases for 28mm figs.
They also have a pack of 110 wooden discs for 2 pounds: roughly equal numbers of 20mm, 30mm and 40mm discs, 1.5mm thick.
Look in the 'craft' section.

It's a 7.5W (40W) Glue Gun and I thought that I'd give one a try even though I'm not sure what it'll be good for. They cost all of £2.00 each and come with a U.K. plug, 2 x glue sticks, rest and what looks like an instruction sheet. Also in stock are some packs of spare glue sticks (approx. x 35) at £2.00 per pack.
Good find! I would use the plastic domes too for something sci-fi.

The antelope is sold as a general household ornament and stands 25cm tall. I did wonder who would buy such a thing to actually use as an ornament, but I ran out of ideas after "serial killers" ???
