Nice work. If I hadn't had a lot of old 1/72 figures already when I restarted my WWII project I might have gone with the Valiant figures but I thought they were just a bit too big to work well with Revell/Italeri.

Here's some comparison pics I made, so you can see if you can live with the size and style of valiant figures :

A noter : les armes des figurines compatibles sont tout de meme souvent plus petites que les valiant. Je ne le renote donc pas à chaque fois. Personnelement, je peux vivre avec  ::


Armée américaine :


Italeri : US infantry (set 6120)




Compatibilité : correcte.

Les soldats italeri sont moins bien nourris que ceux de chez Valiant ::  mais la taille est convenable. Certains armements et équipements sont trés similaires (bazooka, sacs à dos), mais les armes sont plus petites chez italeri, ainsi que les tetes. Je recommande un guillotinage suivi d'un remplacement de tete par une des nombreuses tetes optionnelles valiant, ou tout fabricant de tetes séparées (raventhorpe ou britannia, par exemple) pour avoir un ensemble cohérent.

Les plus bosseurs remplaceront les armes (là encore, par celles optionnelles du kit valiant), et remplumeront un peu la carure des figurines avec du modelling paste ou du medium gel, par exemple.







Armée britannique :

Waterloo 1815 : British Paratroopers with Pack Howitzer (set036)





Compatibilité soldats accroupis : bonne
Compatibilité soldats accroupis : moyenne à bonne

Un simple changement de tete, et on obtient des figurines utilisables telles quelles avec les servants Valiant. Meme les obus sont de taille similaire.


Morris Quad Tractor with 25 PDR. gun (set 7027)




Compatibilité : moyenne à bonne

Les qques figures du set seront adaptables, moyennant le changement de tete habituel





Armée allemande :

Italeri DAK (set 6099)




Compatibilité : bonne

Les proportions et taille des figurines sont convenables en comparaison (sachant que les allemands valiant sont imposants), meme si on échappera pas au traditionnel "head swap".



Italeri German Paratroops (Tropical Uniform) set 6134




Compatibilité : moyenne à bonne

Certaines figurines sont un peu petites, mais d'autres feront trés bien l'affaire. A voir comment ils se mélangent avec les paratroopers Valiant (je n'en ai pas encore).



Italeri PaK 40 AT Gun with Servants (set 6096)



Compatibilité : de bonne à correct

Selon les figurines, la compatibilité est excellente (comme sur la photo), à tout juste correcte. Il s'agira de jouer sur la hauteur des socles, les "headswap", et autres astuces de sioux (comme couper la tete des valiant pour leur enlever un peu de cou, par exemple). A noter que si vous vous voulez des servants d'artillerie, ceux de la piece régimentaire Valiant sont trés bien aussi.

Sorry for the french text, it's a review I made on a french forum, I will try to make a proper english version of it if any interest. In the mean time you can use google translate, but in one word, with some headswap (another trick is to cut the valiant head off, to remove a bit of neck, then re glue the head, to gain a millimeter or two), some basing tricks (first thing to do with valiant figures is to remove the plastic plateform) you can mix them with some other brands, depanding your level of scale tolerance.

Personaly, I'm first a fantasy figures wargamer ,so scale diferences between figures ranges (sometimes inside the same brand!) are something I always lived with.

I still really like Valiant figures, and how cleverly organized are their sets.

And finally, it's some kind of game in the game : find the biggest figures and vehicles to mix with my beloved valiants !
