Star Trek in 1/2500
« on: May 14, 2017, 02:20:37 AM »
I have long wanted to play Star Trek space battles in "big" scale and I've final got it together. Here are some pictures from the first outing of my 1/2500 fleets.

It's funny how Recreation Center Multi-purpose Rooms seem to look the same the world over!

Wow. That looked like a lot of fun.
I have a fair amount of 1/2500 Star Trek ships myself.
I would also like to see what rules you are using. I've wanted to do exactly what you did, but had planned on using the old Full Thrust rules as a baseline. I've been putting it off for years due to laziness.

I'm using an Expurgated version of the old SFB Designer's Edition with Cadet scaled ships - if that means anything to you. But I'm not married to a particular system. I'll probably try Full Thrust next.

The ships are kit bashes of the AMT from the 90s (Dreadnought), Johnny Lightning (D7), 3D Printed - Shapeways (Larson), 3D Printed - my own machine (D-23) and toys from Trek branded cookies (Bird of Prey) from the 90s.

It's taken me 20 years to find a Fed hull color I liked and learn how to do decals properly!
And to be able to 3D print too.

I'm using an Expurgated version of the old SFB Deigner's Edition with Cadet scaled ships - if that means anything to you. But I'm not married to a particular system. I'll probably try Full Thrust next.

I've been hunting my old tiny book set for quite awhile; house d'mess has defeated me so far.

I'm a bit FT fan[boy], but am the first to admit it's difficult to portray SFB's star fleet recognizably. I'll be the first to admit I've issues with much of SFB's imaginings.  :D

However it goes, I'm liking so far, hope to see more!

Nice work.

Although I love Star Trek I've always been sidetracked into other projects, so I look forward to seeing your progress.

The latest ship in the fleet, the USS Thunderchild Miranda Class (TOS Era) Light Cruiser.
It's a resin garage kit. Custom decals.

These look really amazing.  I just finished my first 1/1000 NX kit (non gaming) and am looking forward to the arrival of much smaller 1/7000 scale ENT era ships to play with.  Have you ever built any terrain to go with your ships?  That is something I want to try doing too.
