That looks great, and even better with the interiors!

Wonderful stonework! Is there a video or step-by-step tutorial somewhere for that?

The only thing that strikes me as somewhat "off" is the ground-floor loopholes. I'd have expected them to be at least a floor off the ground. I guess the stoney base does give them some height, but still.

Well PhilB, there are a few places around the web you could go to see a paint tutorial...I'll try to post THIS one though, and you can go from there...     the model in the video looks like plastic or resin...and I use foam core....but the technique is very similar.....i also do a few layers of dry brush on the fnale light and accent shades with the brush motion from top to bottom ONLY to give the appearance of light from above.

As far as the loopholes go......yeah, I was being a little "fantasy minded" with their placement...BUT I also figured the tall rock base would help in their defense, and I also figured the guys could use a little extra light, other than torch light,  and some "odor" vents too  lol
Thank you for the wonderful comments...they let me know I'm doing SOMETHING right eh?...lols...
Cheers,
Carl

IMHO you're doing a whole lot right! When I said I admired the stonework, I really mean it, carving that thing out of foam core is a real feat! The heavy stones along the corners look perfect! So while I will watch the video with interest, what really interests me is the foam core carving part. I guess the best way is just to jump right into it.

FWIW, my house in central France has similar styled corner stones, though the rest is brick. I'm told it's from the time of Napoleon 3, but the basic architectural principle is the same.

another youtube tutorial for you PhilB.....
that will take you to a level you need ...and yeah...just jump on in and p;ay...trial and error is how I learned after watching vids and looking on the net...
Again...I am humbled by your comments...and i thank you....it is comments like yours that make me think I'm getting better.
I don't ALWAYS use a blade to aid in the carving process...I only do it when I end up carving across the "grain" of the foam...and NO it is imperceptible to the eye...but you CAN feel it as you carve.
ciao4niao,
Carl
