Zulus attacking from all directions!
The company defending the Hill, receive some casualties, but do not flinch from their position!
Zulus attack with mania in successive waves, but the cannon is mowing down scores!
The defenders of the Main Kraal manage to resist, but the Cattle Kraal cannot be held!

The guns are overrun!

A Zulu impi from the Chest, went past the hill, rushing for the cannons in the open, while they were occupied with other targets!
Before they manage to turn, the one cannon (one model representing two real cannons) is already overrun and their crew lost!
The other crew are running for their lives!

Meanwhile, the Cattle Kraal defenders...

...manage to fall back towards the main British entrenchments, constantly taking casualties...

...but the Zulu war machine is out of steam...
The British have enough figures to organize a mounted sortie!
At this moment, Miltiades the umpire, declared the game as a good British win!
The British had lost exactly 20 figures (18 soldiers and 2 gunners).

Victoria Cross award to the British player was postponed, as it was raining and we had not time to celebrate the glory of the Empire at the local cafe pub sitting outside and enjoying some mezedes and a couple of good tsipouro shots  ;D

Thanks for the fantastic report DintheDin ! You commanded the troops skillfully and managed to defeat the enemy with the minimum casualties. I don't know about the Victorian Cross but you will be promoted to Brigadier General... [the only damage was that we lost the drinks and the delicacies -you cant have everything]

I am honored about the promotion, I would be extremely glad if this would be accompanied by a wage rise  lol
For the other issue, I propose next week to skip the wargame segment and jump straight to the drinking part  lol

For the game now:
I would like to thank you for bringing all your stuff so that we could play such an enjoyable game...
Congrats also for the scenario design, it was well-balanced, so it was a narrow British win, just on the knife's edge!

Are those the Esci 1/72 plastics? I think I recognize some of those poses. Old friends, those guys. Nice to see them again.

1/72 ESCI. Yes, indeed, at least most of them.
Miltiades has used some few from other makes, he knows better.
If well painted, they have not much to be jealous from their 28mm counterparts.

Thanks once more for your quick reply on the pic posting issue! Cheers!

Brilliant report! Very stirring stuff! I’ll have to get started on my 28mm Perry project. This was the exact battle I was thinking of. Thanks for the great report.

Super battle report.
British and Zulus were the first colonial figures I starting painting back in 1978.
