Exactly my thoughts. I've decided a long time ago that I want my miniatures to have the same bases (which is basically sand/rock plus a little static grass) even though I do have some rather obvious city miniatures. Or even sailors. Nevertheless I rather like the unifying appearance.

Yeah is it something you have to live with and I also base all mine the same so they work on my terrain. 

I thought with some skirmish games you could have the same figures painted the same but based differently for different game boards.
