Warlord Games new plastic french as zouaves?

...they have heads for colonial tirailleurs. Is there any problem to use them as zouaves?

Can’t answer to the previous question, but, I was wondering if these figures could be used for 1916-1918 French… with the proper colors, of course

 I don't think the weapons would be compatible  to WW1 infantry.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but *all* infantry of the 1940 French army wore the helmet in action. That applies to zouaves, tirailleurs of all origins, mountain troops, chasseurs, the lot. The main distinction was in the colours of the collar insignia (if that in turn wasn't covered by concealment patches). Dark blue for line infantry, red for zouaves, light blue for turcos, etc. The faces would obviously look different in terms of skin colour and features and the degree of facial hair for North African and African units.

One surprising distinction that would certainly show nicely on a wargames figure is that the chasseurs a pied wore blue grey trousers and dark blue puttees with their khaki greatcoats. They also had dark blue tunics and shirts, which would be evident on an officer who isn't wearing a greatcoat, as quite often happened.

Warlord Games love to push "character" at the expense of accuracy. They don't even get their "character" right: when not in helmets, fortress troops wore a small beret and chasseurs a pied wore the normal forage cap, rather then the very large beret, which was the distinction of mountain troops only. The metal Senegalese figures armed with the "coupe-coupe" machete are a total myth in WWII.

That may be true but you have to an admit it makes for one hell of a "COOL" looking figure. Of all the Senegalese figures you have on the table your eyes are going to be drawn to that one. I'm guessing that's what Warlord had in mind.

I know, I bought two boxes of those (with a third on it's way). I just wanted to add variety with the poses... I know that SMG and LMG aren't from the WWI period, but, the rifles seem to be Berthier so could be used in later part of WWI, no?

Oh, my apologies then! Tbh, I think you could probably pass them off as WW1 French, I know I wouldn’t notice the difference playing a game. They all look more-or-less the same so it’s probably fine, if you don’t mind the odd minor inconsistency.
