Tough year for me personally but one thing I did do was buy an airbrush - something I've wanted for many years. Happy with it but need more practice

Well the lead & plastic mountains that I accumulated over 10 years ago are finally cleared, apart from 3 Daleks awaiting conversion & a Black Scorpion Winston Churchill awaiting paint! I feel that a great weight has been lifted from my mind as well as from the joists in the loft.

Strictly buy and paint as I go from now on!
Waiter, my soup is giggling.

On the down side it was adifficult year that saw a forced job change and day to day challenges due to the pandemic ...

But I did finish writing the follow up to my Sugar Islands Campaign - "Against Spain" a few days ago. That will be off to the publisher soon.

I finished and ran several games with my lockdown projects - Crimean War and late 16thC Scots.

The highlight though has to be helping to set up and run the best of show demo at Partizan - "A descent on the French coast" A wonderful weekend away, great company and a damned good show too!

So it's not been a bad year for gaming at all   :D

I find myself sitting squarely in the Venn Diagram where "naff" meets "all".  :(

Some (not enough) commission bits painted, possibly a dozen figures for myself, and yet continuing to fill the drawers to bursting with additions to existing, unpainted collections....

So a typical year for me, really.  lol

Me too! I painted a few things, maybe 100-150 miniatures of one sort or another all at the skirmish level as these are the sort of games I am playing now. Also painted up a fair brace of scatter terrain for post apocalyptic/sci fi skirmish gaming.

I know what JollyBob is talking about with optimistic purchases. I have painted one of the plastic Stargrave guys and am now working out how many things to add to my Crooked Dice space stuff pledge (with Star Schlock also yet to arrive), amazing how I am able to delude myself with empty promises of future productivity.

On the positive side, I have enjoyed gaming where possible and played out a full campaign of Stargrave (with Quarantine 37 just started), a couple of Star Wars Legion campaigns and pick up games, some Strontium Dog and a lot of Dragon Rampant. The family has played a lot of boardgames over lockdown which has been both fun in and of itself and useful in keeping us all sane.

The Little Fish are enjoying Dragon Rampant, for which we use our LotR armies, which is great and have gotten into Warhammer so we can all sit down and paint and play together.

So, yeah, got some stuff done but no where near as much as I thought I would. Typical.

I survived ... I painted about 1/10 of what I thought I would for myself, but I did get to paint some great collections for other people and ... I survived.

Look after yourselves, look after your loved ones and ... survive my friends.

Thanks, Cubs. Yes, we survived. Having my father in law enter his second year of a six month visit is getting to be a bit wearing but we've got it  lot better than many others.

Look after yourselves and your families and better times will be with us at some stage.

I don't have a tally of numbers, but I certainly cleared out a lot of 20mm backlog and a trend set in. Well, a trend over two years.

In 2020, I painted a lot of Blood Bowl and Blitz Bowl. Didn't really play either. But in 2021 I ran a Blitz Bowl league, a Blood Bowl league, and travelled to compete in the largest US Blood Bowl tournament, the Chaos Cup...where I placed the highest of all Orc team coaches...so...am I the best orc coach in the country? ha! ;)

In 2021, I painted a lot of 20mm Post Apoc minis for Gaslands and Zona Alfa...but didn't play either. With a full table, multiple gangs and hostiles done, I expect to play these in 2022.

There's the trend. Work on models for a game/setting all through one year, then play the games the following. If this continues, I'll be playing a lot of * Rampant family games in 2023 because those are my 2022 hobby projects.

Well done Onebigriver! This is the situation I am aiming for. In the thick of it right now. Somedays it seems hopeless task chipping away.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

Thanks, I felt like that too at times, but it can be done!

I lost track of the number of miniatures I painted in 2021. I know I painted 134 in Jan, 42 in Feb and 47 in March before I stopped counting. More importantly I got all my Zombies finally painted, so now got 300+! Eventually, I got down to less than 50 figures (including some Daleks) left to paint at one point. Those 50 were the ones that I kept putting off due to lack of enthusiasm. Unpainted numbers have gone back up (due to Black Friday sales) but I'm still below a 100 figures to paint.

Also, what was nice to do, was that I actually completed a fantasy campaign.

My goal for 2022 is get the figures painted and to summon up the willpower to tackle my outstanding scenic items.

At a quick count, at least 365ish miniatures painted for the year. Probably a few more I didn't photograph. The big thing is of course two playable forces for a brand new game; SLUDGE.

The year was a little light on the wargaming of course, but I am quite happy that I managed to keep on being productive.
