Polish Haiduk Command
« on: February 24, 2022, 08:35:22 AM »
Here are the latest figures from the painting table for my Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth army of the 1620s; Haiduk command groups . These were a great opportunity to lavish some colour on my Polish infantry and to add some fabulous flags. Also completed some more casualty markers. Details and more pictures here:

They look fabulous.

Which rules are you using for these?  I have been looking at putting together some poles and Swedes for 30YW for Pike and Shotte eventually as I have always wanted Polish Winged Hussars since seeing a picture on the front of Battle Magazine -  but am undecided about how to base them up and size of units.

The ones Warlord show are over a foot wide, which limits their use on a smaller table.

I like the command base shape  - do these fit on the front of a unit ?

thanks

Mike

Those looking great! I’m looking forward to it the next unit on the painting bench, from the new 1898 Thirty Years War cavalry range. So yes enjoying your blog too.

Thanks very much for the kind comments all, much appreciated 👍.

@Black Hat Miniatures - I’m using Warlord ‘s Pike & Shotte at the moment. My horse units are 15cm/6” wide. I play pike and musket as separate units to represent the Swedish infantry squadron formations. These are each 12cm wide. So a full size infantry squadron would be 5x12cm wide. Typically play on a 8’x6’ board.

Thanks for the reply - that is helpful...  I am interested in the Swedish/Polish conflicts

@Scott - thanks, much appreciated 👍

@Mike - pleasure. I'm collecting armies for the Swedish invasion of Prussia in the late 1620s. Fascinating conflict and very colourful armies.

I forgot to respond on the base shapes. It is an idea I have copied from Barry Hilton of League Of Augsburg fame. I was looking for a way to have a swappable command base that could fit with a unit in a number of ways.  I wrote a blog entry about it here:
