Chain of Command: EW German attack on Polish city AAR
« on: April 18, 2016, 06:53:50 PM »
Played an Early War fight, Poles vs Germans in a cityscape this weekend. Tried out splitting my units into smaller groups to somehow solve the "locked down firefight" problems that we've had in our previous games. I didn't really follow it through completely as I ended up lacking commanders to control those small units...

Anyway, it was a good looking battle so not too much to complain about despite seeing my Poles lose their more too fast despite just average losses.

I discussed the morale loss and taking hits on commanders with my opponent, we both think that rolling a D6 regardless of the number of losses is just a too high probability of having your commander hit. I suggested using dice to match the size of units (D6/8/10/20) and re-roll any result beyong the number of models in your unit. That way a unit of 18 soldiers taking a single hit would only see the officer wounded on 1 out of 18 instead a 16% chance on a D6 die.

Check my blog for a shorter writeup of the action and more pictures:

I like the idea of how you're rolling for hits on your commander. It's obviously not perfect but a good workaround. My dad got these rules for Christmas and I think when we finally get to play, this is something we will adopt.

Excellent looking table too, hats off!

Nice looking buildings!
Been thinking of a Polish force for CoC. That scale of engagement you can do Poles, Belgians or Dutch and not be overwhelmed by all the fekkng panzers.
