Depending on the surface you may have been better of with this version. I always have trouble putting decals on not entirely smooth surfaces.

Surface is plaster on top of foam - I'll give it a shot and report back

Probably a redundant question, but have you used a product such as Microsol?

Once the decal is applied, brush this stuff on; it will melt the decal sheet, forcing it to closely form itself to the surface it's on. Multiple applications might be required, but I've yet to find a surface where this does not work

 I have - works wonders. Not tried it yet with this piece, will update it when I do (been focused on my hellscape board for a bit)
