I'm going to build a Gasland Gear Phase tower, with placement for some LED matrix that will be driven by an Arduino. Not sure exactly of how exactly I'm going to build the tower, but likely will be concrete look with foam

Think I'm going to base it off this awesome comms tower in Vancouver. It hexagonal and has 3 radio horn antennas (you can see another view of a similar horn here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horn_antenna#/media/File:Hogg_horn_antennas.jpg). I believe these specific horns are no longer functional, but uncertain

If the Soviet Union did SciFi that is exactly the aesthetic. I am a little envious that I didn't think of it first!

And we have a tower! It is made of foam, cut on my Proxxon with guides that I designed and cut out on my Silhouette. I assembled it and added the chicken wire as rebar, then a coat of spackle/wall compound. It will eventually sit on a 6x6 Open Lock 3D printed tile. The tower is ~10 in tall, not including the 7mm of the base (which I'm not counting, as it is just that - a base).

Here is a photo of the rebar detail and the cutting guides.

I haven't started sanding the piece yet, so the spackle looks rough

I also thought I would post a few of the inspiration images. Or should I say terrifying images I found when I googled "crumbling concrete". Seriously, one of those is a highway support

And lastly, (or really firstly) the cutting guides and Inkscape I mocked them up in, as well my original notes. I usually start my designs on paper, let's me think out the key parts and do the rough math, before I transferred to Inkscape to mock it out and then into FreeCAD for final work.

Have some concrete evidence that this is going to be a fine terrain piece!  :)

Pun aside, the piece is coming along nicely and I look forward to seeing it painted!

Got the unfinished but glued together tower onto the table today - became a fantastic snipers tower for my scifi table
