Ruckus- a day at Wi Tower
« on: 21 June 2024, 06:53:50 PM »
I have just had two fruitful days at Wi Tower in Nottingham discussing all things Ruckus with project manager James Griffiths.
The first day and a half was all about editing and rewriting, this time it was the rules for Mounted Characters and Mercenary Heroes, the fruits of which will be published in September and October’s issues.
We then spent half a day taking pictures for both of these.
I love seeing how it all comes together. There is a great team spirit at Wi and the office is imbued with a sense of light-hearted purposeful industry
We discussed all things Ruckus...including the shape of things to come, more articles and the BIG Book of Ruckus. I think we both came away with a lot of ideas but there is nothing that I can share here…yet.
The Wi website is being massively restructured which is one of the reasons some of the on-line resources are not available there at the moment. I have seen the new website and it looks excellent, it will be much slicker than the present one with a more logical lay out.
Here are some pics from the day

I have a bad case of prescient nostalgia. The future's not what it used to be.

Looks great, really looking forward to seeing the additions for mounted and mercenaries.

One question, I'd like to play a game of Ruckus with 3 players, each having their own retinue. Are there any problems in having a three-handed game?

Absolutely brilliant stuff.
Really love the game, and looking forward to the future releases.
Is there any news on when specific figures might be released by Wargames Illustrated?

No not really. Three is better than four. You have two options, use one spear less per retinue or a bigger table,4x4, with full Retinues. The only drawback with the second method is that  turns take much longer and the game is slowed down somewhat.

Try the get orf moi land scenario but with four objectives, set them out in a Rhomboid/Diamond shape and after the table is set deal a card from each Retinue face down on three of the four table edges to decide who comes on where....or play form one side edge and two opposite corners

Let me know how it goes...all feedback is appreciated

Thank you! I am glad you like it. No news at present. There are plans for 25 figures but the production is very slow. The sculpts are designed by a sculptor in US, 3 d printed by Wi and then put in the very long production queue at North Star. Its very frustrating, Wi really are a very small company with limited resources.

Many thanks for getting back to me. The game is on Wednesday and I hope to post an AAR.  :)

We will try that scenario and set-up, as you suggest, cheers.

Thank you for the reply.
I mainly use "Ruckus" for games set in the German Peasants War,but I'm constantly thinking about gaming War of the Roses, and the new figures will give me an excuse to get started.
Really looking forward to the English Civil War version.

Thanks,
Andy

No worries! It's going to be quite a long wait for ECW , the BIG book of Ruckus will come before that
