Dyaks for Pulp Adventures

I've started working on three new sets for the Pulp Figures Savage Seas range, PSS. These will be Dyak tribesmen of Borneo. Those who recall their Sax Rohmer will remember that Doctor Fu Manchu had a cadre of Dyak minions.

The three planned sets are, open handed spearmen, weapon attached swordsmen and warriors with blowpipes.

Dyaks are a standout group to represent. How do you decide on what to make miniatures of?

What about a group armed with WW2 weapons. An Australian book Semut by Christine Helliwell details the work they did behind the lines keeping the Japanese to the coastal regions of Borneo in 1945.

I really like pulp miniatures, especially because they're charismatic and have personality. This is especially true for the European/American/Asian character figures.

For the "exotic" series (Savage Seas, Zulu, etc.), I would like to see a more diverse cast of characters portrayed, rather than just stereotypical warriors with weapon x/y/z. I particularly like the Vulcan Queen set because it also includes exotic heroes/anti-heroes.

I could very well imagine that there would be young/old, tall/short, fat/thin, evil/good, naive/nasty, beautiful/ugly men/women with special roles in the community (shaman, old healer, young mother, fit fisherman/hunter, frail old man, etc.) who could take on various roles in a pulp adventure.  A diverse society, as they say...

It would also be nice to have other items besides weapons to equip the figures with (captured prey, gathered food, jewelry, tools, etc.). I could also live with the idea of the little things already being part of the figure.

That's an excellent suggestion! Not quite as easy to pull in metal off as the various sprues with odds and ends hanging off of them, but still, a good idea.
