Assembling 1st Corps Dark Age Wagons
« on: July 25, 2025, 07:17:07 PM »
So I have two different style 1st Corps Dark Age Wagons, and they are nice models.

I seem to be perplexed on how the oxen are attached. There is a yolk that comes with each wagon that attaches to the tongue. However, I can't seem to figure out where does the yolk contact the oxen. The oxen seem to be harnessed already.

I can't tell from the 1st Corps photos, as it almost looks like the yolk is not used. But clearly the tongue is held up somehow. A quick search of the internet finds a fellow who didn't attach the wagon to the oxen at all, and has the tongue just resting on the ground. His blog is Glue and Dice and I recommend you check it out.

As for the 1st Corps photos, here is an example. Is the yolk hidden by the closest ox?

Can anyone be of any help? Thanks in advance,

Ralph

Bowman. I had the same issue. My less-than-ideal solution was to glue the oxen close together on a base and then the "tongue" just rests between the oxen rather than just falling to the ground. This also allows me to use the cart in other ways. Surprised there is no neck yoke for the oxen. Photo below.

Ahh, so your cart is not connected to the base.

Bowman, no it isn't . I decided I would get more utility from it separate from the base, as I can then leave it lying around a farm as battlefield ramage/cover in skirmish games.
