Blasphemia's Dark Age of Sigmar (update June 1st: The Bell)
« on: April 15, 2019, 03:55:02 PM »
I'm currently building a collection of minis for gaming in Age of Sigmar universe, but with Rangers of Shadow Deep system. As with all my work on AoS so far, this project will also come with a grittier, gloomier aesthetic. I'll be focusing on Stormcast Eternals with their human allies, and various monsters they encounter.

The backdrop for my future skirmishes is a vast territory freshly liberated from occupation by Chaos. The huge and mighty Stormhost is gone to fight somewhere else, and people are working on resettling the area: rebuilding, repopulating, starting new kingdoms on ruins of old. There are lots of ruins around... Though armies of Chaos are gone, these lands are not fully safe yet. Wild beasts, the undead and small groups of servants of Chaos can still be found - especially in darker, less accessible places. The land is scarred, and it will take time and effort from the Free Peoples for it to heal, and not fall back into chaos and ruin. Only a handful of Stormcast Eternals remains there to coordinate and lead these efforts.

For my humans I'll be using mostly historical minis. There are excellent medieval kits from Perry Miniatures. I like the challenge of converting fantasy minis from these very toned-down historicals. Plus, I want a visually coherent look for my humans – and using a limited pool of kits works in favour of that goal. For now I have War of the Roses kits, but I intend to get the Agincourt ones as well.

As I said, I'm working with Rangers of Shadow Deep rules system in mind. I'd like to appropriate it for AoS28, with Sigmarines taking over the role of Rangers (player characters) and human soldiers as companions they can hire for missions. The list of companions includes a nice array of combatant character archetypes, and I plan to make at least one of each. This is what I have so far:

Knights

Barbarian and Savage

Swordsman and Conjuror

Rogue and Arcanist

Gryph Hounds

Raptors

I ramble more about the conversions and ideas behind them on my blog gardensofhecate.blogspot.com.

Great work! Your setting feels like a great fit for the RoSD game, similar but unique.

I love it. Top Gothic grime right there.

Roughly 1000 times more attractive than the actual GW take on AoS, I must say.  Those custom gryph hounds are especially adorable.

Drop dead gorgeous. May have to try my own hand at this Dark AoS jazz. You've created something really inspirational here.

I fully agree. I  much dislike the official AoS aesthetics.

Youve done a fantastic job with the finish of the  graveyard. Really a few notches above most.

Eh, there are some lovely AoS-only sculpts, but many are just absurd and the catalog paint schemes mostly range from garish up to positively eye-searing.

Wow, you've sure managed to make those AoS cartoons into something quite impressive and lovely.

Very cool idea and the minis and terrain is spectacular

Rangers have great potential for different settings.
Thanks to you idea now I am thinking how to fit my Techno barbarian setting of Patalonia into RotSD
