We finally played our first Game on the first Tileset:

I think everybody had fun and 3D Terrain is (imho) really a Funraiser. So the Work building it was worth it.
Oh sure. Everybody's in favor of saving Hitler's brain, but when you put it in the body of a Great White Shark, ooh, suddenly you've gone too far

Good stuff there, assi! I have used HA quite a bit too. Unfortunately I can't easily order any really durable plaster, the stuff I get is somewhere between regular POP and Excalibur/dental plaster in hardness.

So what I do is that after I have glued the bits together (and before painting the terrain piece), I apply a coat of thinned down (not too thin though) white PVA glue over the entire thing. That forms a pretty hard and durable coat, and has the additional advantage that the piece won't soak nearly as much paint.

Something to try out maybe?

Dosen't the glue layer Layer "flat out" the details on the Stones? (Which are needed for the Drybrushing :) )

Not really, unless you apply really big gloops of the stuff, but you should not do that anyways because it will run. If you thin the glue with water just a tad, it will flow nicely like a paint, and when it dries, it shrinks, and the layer is hardly noticeable. Just try it out on a few left over pieces, and you can see for yourself, assi!

Some folks use white glue to 'prime' plastic soldiers, in an attempt to make paint stick on them. So it doesn't cover details that bad, otherwise they wouldn't even consider it, right?

If anyone wants to buy sets of pre-cast Hirst blocks in the UK they are available from www.dungeonarchitect.co.uk

Let's see if I can jog your memories from this old thread!  ;)

Has anyone tried adding PVA glue directly to the plaster mix?
I would think, in small quantities, that the plastic nature would stengthen the plaster considerably.

You're a star Dom - bought a large bag of bricks off ebay a while back for a couple of quid - got most of the bits for the fieldstone bridge but have left off assembling it in the hopes of finding somewhere that sold other bricks so I could have a go at a ruined fort or some other exciting bit of terrain! Cheers for the link!  :D

Fun looking game Assi - is that Heroquest furniture I have spotted?!  8)

you can do that, and it works pretty good.

The only bad thing is that you cannot scratch any break or hole in the bricks because the plaster will become a bit more plastic-like
