Da Vinci's Tank - School Project Help
« on: 09 June 2010, 01:25:35 AM »
My son, Sean, is building a model of Da Vinci's tank for a school project.  Does anyone know of any scale plans that might be helpful.  I like to encourage any modeling projects he takes on so it will be a fun project

Hi J,
I've seen a book called "Leonardo's Macines" which is full of scetches of his crazy inventions including the tank, it's also got exploded 3d pictures which should help in making a model. Not sure if there were any dimensions though.

There used to be a replica at the Bovington Museum :

can't find it on their website but they are usually helpful with enquiries.

Here's a picture of the final product - it looks pretty good for my son's first scratch building effort.  The tank is built around a disposable pie tin.

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/

Very nice. Your son may have a future as a model sculptor.

Hmmmm, model sculptor - maybe I can structure his allowance around figures I need....
