Remember that Termite mound I made a year or so back?



Well I think I need to make a new version:

"Why's that?" you say. "Looks like another ordinary (if rather overgrown) termite mound to me."

I was browsing the Great War Forum looking to answer a query I had on Stokes Mortars when I blundered upon it. The Great War Forum is a great resource, and I think the best place to get WWI questions answered. There are millions of interesting threads with pics on there. Too many really, as it is very easy (for me anyway) to find I have lost an entire afternoon to it if I'm not careful.

my only point of minor objection would be:
from my memory, termite mounds in Namibia are more yellowish and look different than the surrounding earth

this red I recall only from australian ones
but well, who cares actually

It isn't Namibia, it is East Africa. White piping on the hats for Deutsch-Ostafrika. It would be blue if it were Deutsch-Südwestafrika. 

A termite mound in Kenya:

I'm happy enough with the colour of mine. Not going to build a different coloured one for every theatre so it may well turn up in DSWA too one day.
