Don't you consider the Super System character generation comprehensive enough for RPG-style play? At first glance it doesn't seem all that different in your review.

I think he's saying the opposite: that he likes the depth of the character creation system, but feels it's maybe a bit overkill & out of place in what's otherwise a simple skirmish game.
History viewed from the inside is always a dark, digestive mess, far different from the easily recognizable cow viewed from afar by historians.
