I will have a look for my book on this.

Some of the pics on the British Battles site should be taken with a pinch of salt, though. The pages are illustrated with whatever period images the author managed to find, and some of these are somewhat fanciful, often depicting the troops in full dress rather than campaign uniforms. This is less a problem with the Second Afghan War battles (as opposed to say, the First and Second Slkh wars) where the illutrations tend to be more reliable, but I would still cross-reference them with other sources before using them as a painting guide.

OK, a quick update on what I managed to get my mitts on at Fiasco- all were second hand so they didn't cost me an arm and a leg:

Ess. Hist., The Anglo-Afghan Wars.
M.A.A., British Infantry Equipement(I), 1808-1908.
M.A.A., North West Frontier 1837-1947.
M.A.A., Queen Victoria's Enemies (3).
The Savage Frontier, a History of the Anglo-Afghan Wars.

I've managed to track down a copy of the Mollo book too so things are looking up  :).

Thanks again for all the suggestions- I'm still open to more ideas if anyone has anything to add(?).

Darrell.
