Fleets burning noiselessly in the ether...
« on: 25 January 2011, 01:34:08 PM »
I'm aware that most of the action on this thread is firmly on, or under, the ground, but for those few who look up...

MOD EDIT: Had to change the link to the following: http://www.hangar18fasa.com/ due to violation of the "symbol use rule".  AFAIK, the items in question will soon be listed under the "Sky Kings" header. Sorry about that - Chris.

Absolutely no need for apologies except on my part! And you have my sincerest! - dje

Brought to mind a somewhat moribund game called Hard Vacuum, which fans have converted or scratchbuilt a number of designs, Silent Death figs being a favorite. However, some of these seem about perfect.

I've bought from the guy; a bit of a wacko, but seems plenty good-hearted. And, was quick and accurate with deliveries.

I'll forgo how the not-Flash Gordon stuff on his store screams superscience pulp...

Very cool stuff! What do the "Sky King" aircraft figures refer to?? I'm not familiar with that past the old TV show. Nice looking planes and zepplins, very "Crimson Skies"!
Play the game, not the players!

Those "Armor Clads" would make fantastic Star Frontiers/Knight Hawks ships!

 ::) Ya know, before I started playing the game, that's exactly what I thought of the CS Planes. All I had seen in 1999 was some of the Metal unpainted planes, not the main ones, but some from the Aircraft manual, etc., and I thought, what crap, and WAY too expensive!.
THEN, The WK clix game came out, I fell in love, and had to go back and post market purchase all the rules and supplements, but, that way, it was (mostly) cheaper. {I had to go $70.00 + postage for the FASA rules set.}

I've no idea; I'm pretty certain it has nothing to do with the Sky King 'merican TV show of my youth. ;->=

As to filling a niche, my original reaction to CS was very much the same as Glenn's. It was nice seeing the designer running a game at a long ago GenCon. Planes 'flying' on plexiglass suspended amongst the tops of skyscrapers. Very much a Sky Captain moment, long before the movie came out.

Hard Vacuum, a sort of CS in space, seem like they could use these as well. In the 'must try' list that keeps expanding for me.
