The Brig "Newton" and Cheaper, buy the Galleon.
« on: July 20, 2011, 05:33:11 AM »
OK, stowing the Puns and setting sail on this topic.
Two new entries on the Blog. The First is an experiment in prefabricated Wooden models. As most of you know there are three interdependent factors to building a project: Time, Money, Quality. most of the time we sacrifice one for the other or lack two of the three. This was an expenditure of capital in place of time, well and the lack of any suitable models for galleons on the market. It also started an adventure with a band saw, foul language, and the meeting of a carpenter that builds real authentic replicas of Inuit kayaks.
The second is the Minimi Brig, a nice little ship for those not interested in building the Gary Chalk ship from scratch. (Once again lacking time before the large game in September.)

Nice boats!  I'd have to become a pirate to afford that Galleon.   o_o

The Minimi Ship has scrubbed up well. It looks great as does the Galleon ;D

it looks a bit more like a regular model-shipcraftin job, than a "miniature-ship-shaped-game-table" ...

Especially the rigging would gave me the shivvers, while fumbling my pirates from point A to B ... mowing down masts and rigging alike.

However - it really looks good!  :D

Drachenklinge,
In the rules we're using on a table this size not much figure movement is happening on board the Galleon. We mostly use the figures for shore parties. The Boarding action is abstract, quick and brutal between ships. It does keep things moving though.

Thanks again, I should have one more ship finished by The end of the month for the game at Recruits.

Thise are great - love the rigging on the brig.

That makes it look 100% different from the basic model!

How do you many your figures on the decks during a game? Carefully I would guess!
