1st ACW mini-comments please

Not sure if this ois the right place fro this but a while ago I swapped some stuff for a mixed bag of ACW Foundry Figures. from Comsquare at the bazarre + having recently read quite alot of ACW history I thought it was time to paint a few of them. As I poured them out of the jiffybag 2 figures laneded next to each other and seemed to fit together perfectly. Only v.roughly accurate uniforms but quite pleased with the result. never tried putting more than 1 mini to a base so all criticisms are welcome + any advice.

I like it - the use of the grass and leaves on base is great.

Only thing I might have done different is to paint the union guy a one of Berdan's sharpshooters just because of the pose and setting.

Nice pj, only criticism is the eyes. A lot of painters leave them out and just shade the eye area which I prefer (personally) unless time is spent to get them spot on....a dog of a task which takes me forever and even then they're not perfect

Thanks guys. Colonel, I considered a Berdan's uniform but was even less sure about the colouration so stuck with plain old infantry. The grass is Army Painter tufts, first time using them, and frankly they are great. Easy as hell to apply and more realistic colouring than most static grasses. The leaves were bought from Bolt Action(before they joined up with Warlord Games) and have been sitting in my bits box for ages. They are actually much paler but a quick splash of a green wash and they look pretty good. Dozing Dragon, I know the eyes aren't perfect but I think it's best just to keep trying. In fact the eye's are the only bit of a mini I hate to paint.
Comsquare, it took a bit of time to get round to it, hectic year so far and all hobby fun has been on the back burner but now I've started these acw guys I intend to finish them.
