1/72 or 20mm has many advantages with lots plastic vehicles and infantry. A good choice for moderns. Regarding liberation minis I don't have personal experience with them but I hear you have to expect a long waiting time. The Guild warbands forum is a specialist 20mm forum and they have loads of info on the scale.

well, i don't want to bother you but... are you SHURE about the 20mm?

I mean, it depends on what you want:
- if you want a big number of nice minis, maybe to not paint them or to fast paint, you can use 20mm
- if you want some small battlegroups, where the characters are full of personality, i really suggest to go with some copplestone or TAG or whatever 28mm ... more expensive, but really better!
- if you want the mass, you should go for 15mm... cheaper than 20mm metal (but not plastic!), and IMHO still as interesting as them!

I'm telling that because (Still IMHO) 20mm is the scale from which you start to lose personality in the minis: those are nice, but the faces are not so well defined, and the shades have to be made larger.
At that point, i'd go for 15mm... if you look on the forum you'll find PLENTY of those! i have some myself, i think that they are great... fast to paint and really interesting! I also have a lot of WWII 20mm, but i don't use them at all!

cheers,
Jack

I'm not sure I agree Jack, 20mm still have a decent amount of detail, and the sheer range and prices of kit available for 20mm / 1/72 as opposed to 28mm means you're never going to be short of it. I think 20mm is the perferred choice for most WWII and modern gaming still. Also ranges make more sense with 20mm without loosing the personality of models like you do at 15mm (which is an awful scale too small to paint decently, but too big to paint badly). If you want to see some good 20mm stuff here on this forum look you 'Frank', 'Wayswatcher' and some of 'Agis' stuff, they might change you're perspective as what can be done with 20mm.

i was thinking about faces. even the agis stuff is much more less detailed in 20mm than in 28! :) And the new companies are all investing into high quality 15mm (and agis is a master in them), or in 28!

On the other side, you'll have a lot of vehicles, as dijit said, much much cheaper than 28 mm and much better than 15mm! =)

Thats my blog, i am also collecting for 20mm moderns and I can honestly say there is way more variation than there are in 15mm and 28mm. If you check the links section you should find links to the vast majority of 20mm moderns producers (from 1990s to now) keep in mind for a lot of stuff you can use equipment as far back as ww2 for some third world states.

I personally prefer 20mm, its big enough for some decent detail that can be used for squads, and small enough for some hefty battles.

I use 28 and 1/35 for painting (that is mi favourite hooby).

1/72 for WW2 In hard plastic (plastic soldiers ltd. Exelent!!!).

In moderns, I was thinking in 1/72 because here, I can find exelente vehicules (strykers, t-72, 80, leopard 1, 2, BTR 80, and helicopters)

I don't want soft plastic figures, so I am looking for metal.

My idea is make skirmish like call of duty MOD 2, using force on force or similar rules.
Elheim miniatures for soviets or estern warrios (for example the biohazards used like chemical weapons warbands).

I was watching liberations miniatures but I don't know the quality and if they have miniatures with  this masks:
http://www.ospreypublishing.com/store/The-Yugoslav-Wars-%282%29_9781841769646  (the soldier with the black mask  ;) ) I don't know the englis word for this jajaja.

Good bye.

While they are plastic, Ceasar miniatures are quite rigid. If you're worried about gluing, regular plastic glue is useless indeed but there is a set of an activator pen combined with superglue that does works.
Tank? Vot kind of dumbkopf name is that for a Schutzengrabenvernichtungspanzer?
