LOTHS ship step by step!
« on: 03 October 2011, 11:23:42 PM »
Hello,

I built a ship from the templates in the Legends of the High Seas book. I scaled the plans up 33%, and ended up with a pretty nice little schooner.

Templates cut out. Ready to go!

Foamcore cut out.

It's starting to look like a ship. Help provided by some of my crew.

Attaching the sides.

Basic shape done, with some filling and sanding in order.

Another crew attempts to steal the ship, but they are fought of with the giant X-Acto knife...

Completed ship. A weekend without the wife and I have a ship for piratey shenanigans !

Blackbeard is my co-pilot!

Nicely built and good tutorial.

What did you use for the planking?

Thank you Furt!

I used balsa wood sheet for the planking. I scribed it with a sharp pencil at 1/8 inch intervals.
