The Scotch double sided tape seems to be the stuff (I buy mine cheap from a pound shop), it's used to secure foam backed carpets in place on tile and wooden flooring and is therefore quite durable.  If you have an experiment with it you'll see how extremely 'tacky' it is and it's a lot faster than using glue.

Thank you!

Ill give it a shot today. Just wondering how permanant it will be compared to glue.

Do you have a picture of the product? I can see some tiny boards under the skeleton mini you linked but not sure if that is what you mean.

I uploaded a picture, the miniatures included is a GW skeleton on a standard 20mm base. I have the 4 mm and 6 mm plank width, zoom in to see more detail (rather large picture size !).

Thank you for the picture that looks perfect for what I am looking for. I will check again online to see the prices. Where did you say you buy them ? Tomorrow I will check again the site you sent me.

Thanks again every one for all the help. I tested the tape today and loved it but it does not seem like a permanant seal. More like a middle step I can use or after planking with the tape, sealing it again with something else.

I will post pictures tomorrow.

I bought them at the local modelling shop.

If you're from the US, this might be a similar prodcut  : http://www.historicships.com/Wood/PlankScoredDeckSht.htm

I was able to give the 2 sided tape a shot and It was really fun to use.

I will definitely be using this to make some buildings and some wooden panels. It does not really make a very strong bond for the ship decks, it doesn't feel like a permanent bond. Plus when I soak them with varnish or ink I dont think they will hold up very well.

I did enjoy planking on them and even covered up my notebook to test it out ( I know have a wooden planked notebook)

They link you provided seemed really interested but didn't have any pictures of the decks. I don't mind doing the deck one plank at a time, plus I am trying to keep the cost of the ships down and buying premade planking seems like it will add another +$20 per ship in materials.

I will post some pictures soon of what I have been able to do with the tape, and thanks for all the advice guys !
