Maxmini new 3D printing service
« on: 14 August 2012, 02:32:16 AM »
Just saw this on their Facebook page:

Quote
MaxMini.eu now offers a high quality 3d printing service - to allow 3d modelmakers see their designs come to life. What makes us different from most 3d printing companies is that we're toymakers ourselves so the technology we use is geared towards high resolution and amazing surface finish. Moreover whenever applicable we include high quality resin copy of your work in the price.

No prices for now  :?

Interesting though.

This 3D printing is the way of the future; casting will be on its way out in a couple of years if this keeps going the way it is, no matter how we feel about that... :?
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Given they charge 8 Euro an hour for their machine and it costs 50-70 Euro for one 28mm 'print', that's 6-9 hours. So it my be some time before the model you buy and paint is manufactured this way. Master models on the other hand, are very much now! ...

Cheers!

My prediction for the future: miniatures are no longer made or sold physically, but customers (us) buy their minis in digital form and print them on their home 3D printer. Because in the not so far future, we will all have one of those in our homes, using it for just about everything. Want new clothes? Buy them online and print them in the comfort of your own home.

Replication technology made real. The courier services are gonna get a fit...

For certain products, I can certainly see them being print to order, or like PDFs for our rule books. I actually think that'd be pretty cool...I could buy the rules and some figures, then print them all instantly at home. No postage no waiting. Awesome.

And you'll be able to print them in colour!
