Painting Aged copper

Painting some European WWII buildings and doing some trim as if it was copper now 100 years old. I have done old copper before but looking for other ideas or treatments.

I usually Paint in a darker bronze color then wash with a thinned green shade.

I surfed the internet a bit found som things and then went and did it the way I normally do, copper/brass, dark wash, green blue wash, dry brush a "wet" lighter more oxidized green blue, wash, and highlight.

By the way I have sold almost everything but the Wild west stuff If you are still interested I will make you a deal. I will also be listing the other buildings (western) Im in a selling frenzy.

As you say, all old copper roof get a green patina (copper oxides and sulphides) , that protects it from corrosion. Only very new roofs look metallic.

Here's some inspiration and tips for all who don't know what we're talking about.

You can protect it from it by covering it with chemicals, but that is a modern thing. It was, and is, beautiful.
The statue of liberty is made of copper.

If you want it realistic it's light green with a hint of blue.

I'd go for VMC Green Sky, Lime Green, and in particular Pastel Green. There's a hint of blue, in particular the shadows. I've also used artist's acrylics blueish phtalo green mixed with white to good effect.

Took a few pictures, not real good since my photo booth is put away while getting Christmas stuff out.... It came out fine and really better than I expected for the FAST job I did on it. I am trying to work through painting about 40 1/72 scale or 20mm buildings for WWII gaming and I do a good job but just cant spend oodles of time on every one. I painted this one in between working and stuccoing a real wall at my house. For the scale and the fact that this is a piece of terrain I think it came out alright and gives the sense of copper roofing. YES! the model still has some detailing to do like the windows and some other wee spots.
