Dunno about the MG carts, but it would seem from the postcards that supply carts went unpainted, showing the bare wood colour (though how accurate the depictions are, I do not know).

Actually it is a 37mm infantry gun, not an MG. My mistake.

Dog biscuit or bone coloured?

Not sure it matters from the dogs point of view, their retinas contain far fewer cone cells and their vision is essentially dichromatic. Paint it a faded blue or yellow and say you asked a surviving canine veteran.
