A clever idea, well executed! Amusingly, I know next to nothing about Doctor Who apart from the Daleks' backstory, but what I do know about it makes the premise (aliens messing with Earth's timeline) instantly reasonable.

Grymm from Hasslefree are Space Dwarves that make fairly convincing Sontarans.

So what you need is Medieval Villager or suchlike, with a beard; remove the Mediaeval Villager's head, put the Merchant's head on the Mediaval Villager's body and put the Mediaval Villager's head on the Sontaran body. You've now made a Grymm.
