Model Zone in Smiths
« on: 05 December 2013, 01:26:14 PM »
I saw that Model Zone has appeared downstairs in WH Smiths in Kingston and apparently Smiths has bought the name and stock.

Obviously a smaller selection than in the original shop but some of the aerosols are available and scenic items as well  :)

cheers

James

Really?!?

And there was me thinking that Giles had bought everything..... ;)

Seriously, though, that is good to know, mate.
Will have to check out the local ones next time I pass, just to see if they have anything as well.
Cheers!

Hadn't seen this before, but found more details here.

Looks like it's only some stores, and I don't see any mention of Vallejo paint, which is a shame :-[

Smiths have to be careful still, if they keep modelzone prices at modelzone prices then its still not going to earn them any money, and considering smiths troubles lately, it could backfire still.

No issues locally - we have a department store (Boyes) that stocks the full range of Vallejo including airbrush paints and jars of pigment.
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

Our local Smiths also has the post office in it, so if it gets a Model Zone you'll be able to buy paints AND post them from the same place (as long as there are no more than 4 Pots per parcel!).

I went to have a look in the Manchester Arndale one at the weekend. Lots of tools and bits but mainly Airfix kits and some Tamiya. Humbrol paints and railway stuff.

I had the joy of going to Bluewater the other day but was heartened to see a sign for "Model Zone" which turned out to be make-up in the style of catwalk models...  :`
