Cliff "Step down" pieces
« on: 21 January 2014, 11:50:07 PM »

The smallest of the "step down" pieces with some of my 28mm Conquest Indians

Hi everyone,

I needed some more exit points for my cliffs that I'd constructed awhile back for my French & Indian War games. This gives the terrain more flexibility, of course. Originally, the cliffs were linear, with a large piece in the middle, two smaller pieces on either side (stepping down from the large), and two small "step down" pieces on either end. I decided to make three more pieces, one for the large one and two for the small ones.

The other small step down piece and more Conquest Indians

I would need them for the latest scenario I cooked up for my Pulp games. The cliffs are doing double duty there, so the step down pieces would as well. These are constructed exactly like the cliffs themselves (see tutorial: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=57086.0). Styrene forms the base, and pieces of pine bark are Tacky glued to each other to form the boulders or cliff sections. The tutorial gives the full details. The only thing I added in here were the wire trees and flowers, courtesy of my friend Mike who showed up at my house with them as a gift (well, I hope they were a gift -- I'd never asked for them or paid him!  :-X).

The largest of the step down pieces. It was quite a challenge to make -- lots of pine bark chips to glue to each other!

I was really happy with how they turned out. I'll be using more of the wire foliage on later projects...!

Hi Mike;
Some great ideas there. I just bought some of the Christmas Lemax cliffs from Michael's back during boxing day really cheap and was wondering how to make them more user friendly...you have just the ticket for that. Thanks for the great ideas.

P.S. Are you going to H-Con this summer...if so, hope to see you there once again, and maybe for a game again???
Victory is guaranteed to the last man standing, but always remember those whom you stepped on to get there!!

Thanks, Hitman. Yes, Historicon is in the plans, and room reservations made. That'd be great to get together for a game...
