While I have played solo skirmish games using 6 mm * I was wondering what is the smallest size figures in a game you would use to represent "Characters" - those individuals that are more than just grunts or even anonymous command pieces but have actual (even if unconsciously intended) "personality" aspects in a game. 

The Heroine and her evil stepsisters, The heroes competing for the Heroine's affection and safety, the Evil Mastermind (aka E. M.,), the tool of the E. M. who is in love/lust of the heroine and acted as E. M.'s agent in kidnapping her, The Worrying Parents who insist on accompanying the Heroes...

* I am still trying to find a way to mark characters in 3 mm that satisfies me
