Varnish Help
« on: May 22, 2014, 10:55:28 AM »
Hi all,

I am looking for advice on the following problem;

I rushed to get some figures (Perry plastic Ansar) painted and based for a game a few weekends back.
I finished them off and based them up but in my haste, I forgot to varnish the figures before basing.
The bases are finished with static grass tufts but now I need to go back and varnish the figures.

Will my usual spray varnish cause problems with the grass tufts? Is it a case of me getting some brush on varnish?

Any insight would be of great help.

Thanks in advance.
Tim.

It might do. I did this once, and little globules of varnish attached themselves all over the tufts, pretty much ruining them. They were those MiniNatur/Silflor self-adhesive ones, that come on a sheet. In the end I ripped the tufts off and put new ones in their place, as it was less hassle than trying to get the varnish off.

Might be worth just taking the tufts off in the first place and putting them back when you have varnished.

I've done it before and didn't notice anything weird afterwards.
Pretty sure I gave this one a coat of anti-shine after I glued the tufts on:
