Lion Rampant, first games
« on: December 08, 2014, 01:36:46 AM »
All,
Needing a change from Wild West and SciFi, I pickd up the Lion Rampant Rules and a couple boxes of plastic Medievals from Fireforge and Gripping Beast.  Once I got the figures assembled, organized and primed I decided to have a go at the rules.  The armies I chose to do were Teutonic Order, Baltic Pagan and Hungarian/Polish/Generic.
Yes, I decided to play with the just primed not painted figures.  I was pleased with the rules.  I played two games solo, and one with my son in law.  I would describe the rules as fun overall, easy to grasp and teach.  Not a great deal of tactics involved.  The rules definitely encourage melee. There are no advantages to flank or rear assaults, as figure facing means nothing.  In the three games so far, the Teutonic Order lost two games, and the Pagans were beaten by the Poles.
I plan to continue playing the rules, but likely will not expand to any other armies.

                                                                                                            Nick
