I have had the honoure to help Daniel Mersey (Authour of the Dux Bellorum rules) out with some playtesting of his new wargaming rules, Lion Rampant.

Very cool, Michael. I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts about this new rules set - perhaps referencing other rules you're familiar with.

For instance, what mechanics make it distinctive or were fun?

Well, you piqued my curiosity. Not that I'm not already awash in rules sets as I migrate from fantasy to historical.

1240 AD
Early spring, the ice had just broken on the baltic sea and the warriors had gathered at to make a sacrafice to Freyja for good weather. As they carry out their ritual they out on the sea noticed some ships approacing, as the ships got closer it was sertain that is was a Ledung fleet from the other side of the baltic sea and they didn´t seems to be here for the trade...

And I must say thats a great picture you got as the intro pictures. The heathens looking at the crusaders ships closing in on land.

Did you scratch build those ships or is there a source for them? Huge potential for Greyjoy raiders and inquiring minds want to know.

The ship hulls was resin? cast that I found in a bargin box at the local game store, got all three of them for 60SEK/£6/$10/€6

Then I made the dragon heads and tails, rodded, masts etc from balsa wood, and the sails are of the dame linnen fbric that I use for my banners and flags.

In short, don´t know how made the hulls.

Following your project with interest, the flags you have got made are realy stunning.

Wow, you did a great job with them - not surprising - and I'll guess I'll have to look elsewhere. I did a little web searching last night and some recommend the Revell kit but it needs to be chopped down to ride flat on the "water"/tabletop.

Thanks for the kind words. Going up to the mountains this weekend but hope to get a couple of test models with the banners waving up soon.
