Dux Rampant
« on: 27 April 2015, 07:37:16 PM »
Since 2012 I have been steadily painting two forces for Dux Brittaniarum, I am at the stage where I just have three units and four leader figures to paint up. I am of course getting quite keen to use the figures in anger.

To kick start my Medieval painting, rather than sell the figures I purchased a copy of Lion Rampant, being keen to try the rules out, and scratch the itch of wanting to use my figures painted for Dux Brit, I thought I could use the figures for Lion Rampant, I know the units are smaller but as the figures fight in groups and not individually in the rules, I could track the figure loss using dice.

I know that Dan Mersey has an article for using Lion Rampart in the Dark Age setting in the May issue of Wargames Illustrated, being a tad impatient, I searched the Dux Rampant Forum for some suitable adaptations and came across some mods for 3rd century Romans and enemies, utilising these the stage was set for the first outing of my Dark Age figures and a game of Lion Rampant.

Glad you were able to get the figures on the table for a game, they look too nice to sit on a shelf any longer without seeing some action.  :)

A splendid game in which Dicce, the God of Chance, shone brightly on the Warrior Bikka! Looked great too Baldinus as your 'men' fled for their lives!

That is some nice looking minis and scenery.

We have played Dark age using Lions Rampant straight out of the box. I think it works fine. Just rename Shiltron Shieldwall and dont take as many archers.

Your Terrain boards look very good. Are they made with towels?

Dan always writes quite succinct yet interesting rules..... he seems to have a bit of a gift for it  ;) :)
