Lovely work Simon-  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I noticed that some seemed to be in a different style to your usual brushwork- have you changed your painting style in some way?

EDIT: I've just rad your blog and noticed that Stefan has painted some of the mini's- he's an amazing painter (one that I rate extremely highly- I find myself green with envy at your collection- and not for the first time  8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Also, a really nice touch to have them formed up in their respective places forming the 'Lance'- i noticed the crossbowmen in there.

EDIT: I got that one right too- a really good idea to represent the Coustilliers as they would have appeared in the Lance and as there is some evidence for Crossbows being used if not in close combat then at a very close distance (whilst mounted) in some of the surviving fighting manuals then a perfectly viable one too.

Excellent stuff  8) :-* :-* :-* 8)

Darrell.

Thanks for the generous comments.
Darrell - I've possibly altered my painting style over the years, not by large amounts, but always trying to improve (as we all are). Suppose I do use more washes now, as way of getting a shade/darker tone. With the fine detail and low relief on Perry figures, this seems to be the best way? Also can speed things up.
Cheers
Simon.

Indeed :)

I kind of only use washes on flesh.... Saying that I was stuck in a rut with layering would be a gross overstatement but I do tend not to use washes and settle for glazing things like horseflesh. Anyway, keep up the stunning work- your painting style is definitely working for me  8) 8) 8)
