28mm Napoleonics - headswaps etc?
« on: 04 July 2015, 12:47:46 PM »
Hi Guys

I have a hankering to try some Muskets and Tomahawks or Sharp Practicegames set in the War of 1812 using the plethora of 28mm plastic miniatures now available.

So I wanted to use the knowledge/experience of LA members to see whether my ideas were feasible or crazy. Specific questions so far are:

What happened to the Victrix separate metal heads ranges? They did amongst others 'round hats' suitable for Royal Marines in 1812?

Would Perry British heads fit onto Perry Austrian or Prussian bodies?

Cheers

Perry to perry all good.  Plastic Victrix to perry, the Victrix heads dont have collars/necks, so you will need to ensure you only cut the head off.  also use a 3mm drill, and create a shallow recess in the neck for the head to sit in.  Or cut the neck and add a greenstuff neck to join head and body.

The Victrix light heads were very small and didnt really work.  The Hanover heads and others worked, but were a pain to glue, all went to the USA with the rest of the Victrix metals.

Arms etc all interchangeable, although the Victrix and perry brit cuffs are different the paint will merge them.

Hope it helps

As much as I loathe separate heads i'd try warlord games, their service is great and they have a growing range.

The Brigade games royal marines heads are the ones sold by victrix.
All the victrix metal miniatures (or at least the majority) where sold to Brigade games.

Julesav, i have some Knuckleduster figures and some wargames foundry ones for the war of 1812 that i dont mind to sell or trade for other stuff. Pm me if interested.

What about the colpack heads on Warlord Chasseurs to make Nassau Grenadiers on their greatcoat French?  Or would the unused Carabinier heads on Perry Heavies fit onto their Dragoons to make Westphalian Chevaux Legeres?
