40K part compatibility question
« on: 14 September 2015, 07:44:17 PM »
I'm not a 40K player, but I like the style of the minis and thought about kitbashing a little team so I was wondering if the Scout Marines' head could fit on the Space Marines' torso?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't think so. The scout heads don't have necks while thr SM have massive powerarmored necks.

What a fascinating modern age we live in

They'll still fit... and if they are looking up a little, a small blob of sprue with some plastic glue will sort things out.

I've seen them fitted on and I've seen empire heads fitted on (and they have even less beefy necks).

Yes, but they need a bit of work - they have no necks and fairly big jaws, to the scout heads need a little ball of putty or a nub of plastic to raise them up a bit. You also need to watch for some of the armour chest pieces as those with a high collar/gorget might be tricky if you want the head facing forwards.

I will also say that the scout heads are pretty ugly though (looking like partially-melted plastic Ben Affleck masks), and that other better heads are available separately. I point you in the direction of Mad Robot Miniatures who make some Mohawk heads that I think are better sized and detailed, and which are likely cheaper than buying the scout kit anyway. Alternatively, you can buy individual heads on ebay and in some online stores, in which case I think the Space Marine Sternguard Veterans' heads might interest you. :)

Thanks! I actually ordered those heads online for my little team. :)
