Thank you!

I usually took a Scout company in three Thunderhawks, a Battle company, and a Devastator Company if I could find the points. The Scouts were basically just objective-grabbing troops with Tactical Marine stats, and the Devastor detachments were good enough at shooting to threaten Titans and hold areas fairly reliably. Some of their tanks however (especially the Vindicators and Land Raiders) were excellent! ...Maybe you need a Land Raider company? ;)

Aaagh! Now I need to buy! :'( (Thanks for the tip!)

Any chance of seeing some more photos of the Squats?

Sure! Check my pal's blog (Spanish only, unfortunately, but the pics are cool!):

Really, Epic was a bit more realistic in that Space Marines were meant to work as allied forces with Imperial Guard and the Titan Legions rather than on their own. The same thing was true in Epic 40k as well.

Of course, most players (myself included) tended to play either IG + TL or SM + TL. You therefore saw Guard lists full of cheap bodies and mass artillery, and Marine lists full of Landraiders with some troops for holding objectives and buildings. Whilst the Guard lists tended to be good enough on their own, the Marine lists usually had more shortcomings.

If you're painting Epic to play either SM2, TL or E:A with, you should really build to the army list formations. If you're playing E40k, then the standard codex arrangement is fine (although you will want the assault troops in their own detachment).

Personally, I like all editions of the game, although SM2/TL has the most nostalgia for me being the first wargame that I played (and the only game I ever had everything painted for).

I'll most probably will get some Guard at some point (I have some vehicles, but will need a proper army, hehe).
For now, the correspondent vehicles, as promised ;)
I managed to finish them by the end of the year, but didn't have the chance to take decent pics!

So I got these Rhinos:

Land Raiders:

Whirlwinds:

Predators:

Vindicators:

And the Thunderhawk:

Not a long story behind these, I've kept them with pretty basic details, but enough for tabletop distance ::)

Not my last post on Marines, I just got a new batch, so in a few days I hope they'll be on their way home (mwahaha...)
