US Army platoon organisation in 1890's
« on: 09 July 2016, 07:06:53 AM »
Hello folks,

I'm after any information on the organisation of a US army platoon in the late 1800's/early 1900's. My google-fu seems to have failed completely!

Thanks

Xander

Before I go any further I should state that I am by no means any kind of expert, there are those on here that I am sure can give you a better answer.

As far as I know the term 'platoon' was not something used at that point in time, with the Company being the main unit of organisation in the period.

This link may help, although it is based on a slightly earlier period it should not be too far from the mark....

I hope it may prove useful and, like I said earlier, I could be wrong.....
