Hello all,

I have been interested in VSF for approximately 72 hours and have so far ascertained that it has something to do with Venus, Prussians and rivets.

This section of the forum is really absorbing, so when my plastic Warzone Ducal troops arrived this morning I set to getting a bit creative with them. I did a bit of research and found a link to Prussia and the Teutonic Knights, so I mulled that over in my head a bit and came up with this:

What do you think? My plans are only to do a handful of them and keep them as an elite unit of spacefarers...

I see there's quite a long way to go before I really grasp the spirit of the genre, but it sure is exciting. Would they "work", do you think?

Comments would be greatly appreciated!

Looks rather promising! Kaiserliche Raumgardisten! Of course, please make sure to use the period-appropriate terminology which is "aethernauts".

If you can, think about "sprucing up" those guns. The sword guy looks suitable aethercuirassiery, but that assault rifle is a tad bit modern, so maybe a bayonet might be in order, or paint it with some victorianish-looking detail.

Agreed, it does look a little out of place doesn't it! I'll look into this! Thanks for clearing up the terminology

Cut off the clip, the handle and added the gear. And I have enough gears to do the 7 aethernauts... amazing what you can come up with in the middle of the night.

Changes the miniature completely...

Very nice! Just what I hinted at. Like a spring-loaded space rifle, i.e. rewind the spring after each shot...

Really like that gun now. I've had my plastic ducal guys sat on a shelf for a while. I think I'll be stealing that idea, cheers

Thanks for the comments guys, glad to see you liked the space guns!

I added two more helmets. I seem to have run out of variety though, so I have a couple of options: repeat the same helmets twice; use helmets from different ranges; or use just one of the helmets.

So here are the little men:

I think the second helmet is quite a bit too big, but not all that bad. If I was to go with the single helmet option it would probably be the first helmet. It looks nondescript enough for repetition. Of course, an eagle head would be so much better!

I have a similar idea with some helmets from the empire Pistoliers on horseback for British aethernauts, but we shall see how that goes. I've also got a Prussian steam tank on the production line which I've started making out of a display box for a model car.

Anyway, enough blathering, my tea is getting cold. I really appreciate the feedback so far! Thanks guys.
