Mr. Phipps: Regarding shoeshine stands and public benches
« on: 06 November 2016, 05:50:37 PM »
An open letter to Mr. Dave Phipps:

Regarding your shoeshine stand, shone here:

I was in Lancaster PA for Fall In and dropped into the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania at Strasburg. Upon seeing this beauty, I thought you'd appreciate it. Circa 1910, New Haven Station.

They also had a single-seater, circa 1910, Broad Street Station, Philadelphia.

Down the line you may want to print one of these, very common in train stations and other public places. There are, of course, seats on both sides.

And, of course, there were trains. Lots of trains. Mostly first-half of the 20th century, and very Pulpish. If you are ever in southeastern PA I highly recommend a visit.

At Fall In, Pulp Alley was represented at the Pulp Figures/Crucible Crush booth, where I gave in to my long-term temptation and finally picked up a set of the female cowled cultists. And other stuff. Of course.  ;D

I was talking aloud to myself. A habit of the old: they choose the wisest person present to speak to; the long explanations needed by the young are wearying.

Some beautiful examples! THANKS for sharing.  :-* :-*

We still have family around the Palmyra/Lebanon area, so there's always a chance we'll visit.  ;)
