Looking for jet/hover propulsion units...
« on: November 26, 2017, 11:34:51 AM »
I am looking for some resin (I think) units that are commercially available that have been designed to fit in the wheel arches of standard cars to convert them into 'sci-fi' vehicles.
I know that I have seen someone use them on here but cannot remember who or where they got them from, and cannot seem to find the right thing by searching the usual suspects.

Any ideas or will I have to make them...?

What scale?  Darkest Star's 15mm civilian vehicles come with both road wheels and grav/hover pods that slot into the same wells.  Not sure you can buy those separately, though.  GZG also has some possible options in their 15mm range,

Inso: Thanks, mate.
They look like they may do the trick.
 :D

Hobby Services: I should have said that they will be for a 28mm project, but 15mm scaled versions could still work depending on design so I shall take a peep.

I have been collecting stuff (yes, haven't we all) for a project in which I hope to turn a 1/20 scale present day car into a hover version of the future...

I bought these, among other bits, some time ago from Hobby Link Japan:

Those linked above are currently out of stock but you might be able to find something similar from them or the same item from other dealer?

Thanks, Antti.
 :)

All suggestions are much appreciated, even if I end up building my own.
It is all inspirational.

Oh I'm sure you are able to build your own! That would be the best option, me thinks. I have plenty of different parts to work with but the "housing" of hover engines where to wheels would be is proving somewhat difficult... at least so far I haven't been too happy about my solutions myself  >:( And yes, I would like to have them movable, naturally  :?

There's also these fans from Zinge:

I can't find the thread now, but someone on here used them back to back as ducted fans on a Grymn VTOL.
