CELTS expansion for OGAM.
« on: 30 May 2017, 12:15:12 PM »
I discovered this entirely by accident....

I was completely unaware of its existence and figured some of you may be as in the dark as I was.
Sounds interesting.

Yes, it looks really good. New rules for chariots and boasting which look great for Trojan war type games as well.

I picked it up a few weeks ago - its a nice little addition to the rules, and gives a lot more opportunity to customise your Celt forces, which I did think were a bit under written in the original rules.

I'm wondering if they are planning an expansion for each faction...?

I agree, more depth would have been nice although in the original book.
There does seem to be a set particular layout (64 pages?) for most of Osprey's rulebooks, though.

Rumour has it that they are.

Neato.  :)

Yeah, Osprey's rules do tend to suffer from their size limitations, I feel.

Especially when there is such a wealth of background material for the factions in OGAM that had to be left out, expanded lists would be really useful.
Not so much the kung fu one, which was so empty it clanged....

It was here since december 2016: http://www.ganeshagames.net/index.php?cPath=1_45 book and expansions. ???

Plus the free warband calc sheet: http://www.ganeshagames.net/product_info.php?cPath=2_39&products_id=242 basic spreadsheet you can easily customize.

And I hope they will release some new faction like native NW American, Aztecs etc... I need a new excuse to buy some more of these: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2139148164/going-native-from-out-of-the-mists?ref=creator_nav  :-*

Cheers.

Not Aztecs, but Incas are here in the Osprey gaming resources for their various games (along with Japanese and Arabians):

Should be easy enough to convert to Aztecs.

How about Tribal? Perfect for an excuse to buy more minis! And a fun system too.

Massively disagree! The system itself is a ton of fun, and the settings are very much up to the user and their own slant on what they want to do. Hong Kong action, Kung Fu, Big Trouble... The ingredients are there, but it is up to the players as to the mix.

Though if I'm absolutely honest I would much rather they had spent that effort on coming up with some NEW factions.

While that looks good, I kind of wish they'd done a second book that put the pdf lists and other things into the game first. Even with the web lists, there are still several groups that would make for great forces to add more variety in forces.

India would be another great source for an army beyond the three, same with some of the African dieties...and while it might break the mold somewhat, something that would allow knights and similar.

When they get their greek expansion though, they really should add a variant set for Romans if they don't give them their own...

I don't think so they are different cultures/myths, but yes I agree that using all the profiles in the several expansions available as model and/or the trait's costs in the main book you can create anything you need ;) It's Ganeshagames-style!

I was thinking about something "official" or author-approved, fan-made lists can be outbalanced.
Ciao
