General Ballroom Explores Tombogo - A Jimland AAR
« on: 09 July 2017, 08:47:32 PM »
As my Darkest Africa thread has fallen foul of the Photobucket curse I thought I'd start a new one.

I played my latest game of the very jolly Adventures in Jimland this week.

Once more General Ballroom leads his good chum Tweakers, his loyal bodyguard Flaherty a disreputable (and all too familiar looking) scout and an assortment of short lived Askari and Bearers on a mission to explore the mysterious jungles of Tombogo

What will they discover? Will Tweakers hunt any wildlife? Will the scout survive the expedition? All these questions answered in the write up over on my blog:

Previous chapters in the Generals Diary:

All the missing pictures from the old thread (and more besides) can be found on my blog under the Darkest Africa tag

What a wonderful game.
Love your writing, just the right amount of British stiff upper lip.
Added a lot of fun to the story.
Can not wait for another write up.

Thank-you.
For me it's all about the write up, so I'm glad you like it.
The Jimland engine is fun, but as a solo game it can just feel like a dice rolling exercise unless you're turning it into a story (for me at any rate).
So little things like the scout always getting killed in my games is now a feature of the ongoing story and I have to try and work out ways to bring him back, which all adds to the fun.
I'm thinking I might paint up another explorer to add to the expedition. Perhaps one of the fairer sex to add a little frisson to the next episode.  :-*
